President’s Letter

Dear venerable NATPA members,

On behalf of the Board of NATPA, I want to wish our members and their families a wonderful year of 2015!

In the past year, NATPA has gone through lots of challenges and a great loss of our beloved funding president Dr. Shutsung Liao (廖述宗教授).  But at the same time, we have also received tremendous support from our members with heartfelt appreciation.

The Board wants to assure our members that we are mindful of our duties to our members, our organization, and our home country Taiwan.  Our mission to promote and support of democracy and human rights in Taiwan remain constant.

Needless to say that we are all elated that the Taiwanese people have made the right choice in the election on November 29th, 2014.  But the guarding of Taiwan’s hard-earned democracy and basic human rights is always an ongoing mission, and NATPA will work hard along with Taiwanese in Taiwan to protect these most valuable assets of Taiwan.

In the next few years, Taiwan will face many rapid changes and challenges, and we NATPA should be a participant in steering these changes into the befitting direction.  Therefore, I encourage all our members to exercise their expertise to write and publish essays to share our visions for the future of Taiwan.  We must do our duties and speak up for Taiwan and Taiwanese people to the internationalcommunity.

In addition to our love for Taiwan, I hope NATPA can do more for our members of 老中青 generations.  There are different challenges throughout our life journeys and we may have all faced similar trials as we struggle with work, family and personal pursuits.  Hence I hope by our collective resources within our organization, we can recognize each unique problem and provide assistance to our members.

I like to facilitate mentor programs to assist our younger members in career pursuing and job promotion.   We hope to use social networks to connect our young scholars and junior members and attract more people to be involved in NATPA.  We also need to have fun and generate creativity and friendship among the NATPA members as 四海皆兄弟和姐妹!

As the time proceeds, our love for Taiwan and NATPA has transformed beyond sorrow and anguish due to the oppression in the past.   We can now feel pride and joyful of our achievements by the sacrifice and diligent work from NATPA leaders and members in the past 30 years.

As Helen Keller once said, "Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much." May NATPA brings our members closer to rally together for a better world!

Sincerely Yours,

Charles Hsu

President of NATPA
