Young Scholars and Graduate Students of Taiwanese origin and Members of NATPA are invited to submit a proposal for presentation of a poster session or paper at the NATPA 2014 Annual Conference.

Who are invited:

Scholars and researchers in general and young scholars and professionals in particular, of Taiwanese origin, and Members of NATPA are invited. Priority acceptance will be allotted to young scholars and younger generations.


The topics can be along a broad range of disciplines including: cultural studies, health sciences, engineering or other scientific fields, and social, humanities, and educational domains. While the topics are preferably related to Taiwan, general areas of scholarly and research work are also welcome.


Please submit a brief summary (200 - 250 words). The outline may include: importance of the topic (why it is being presented), methods of study (where does the content come from), result (or story), and implications (what does it mean) for Taiwanese/Taiwan or global society.

Conference Proceedings

Presenters are invited to submit a short paper (1500 to 2500 words including supplementary materials – tables, charts, references or bibliography) two months after the conference for the inclusion in the conference proceedings.

Paper for the proceedings due: October 18, 2014

Special travel support for young scholars

A special subsidy will be provided for travel to the conference for young and new scholars (Ph.D. students, post-doctors, and assistant professors in the first 2 years of appointment) who present a poster session, a paper, or a symposium at the conference. A subsidy (maximum of $50, CAD) will also be provided for the printing of the poster for the presentation.

Notification of the Decision: May 1, 2014
